BY SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS PRODUCTIONS IN FILM, MUSIC, GAMES AND WEB3, THE INTENTION IS TO EXPAND THE CONDITIONS FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLE TO TELL THEIR OWN STORY AND OCCUPY SPACE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY.
Alok Institute was created by the Brazilian artist Alok, global icon of electronic music, to support projects that strengthen the indigenous protagonism in guaranteeing their rights and in their cultural expression.
Other pillars of the Alok Institute’s actions are: (i) to create in cooperation with the black population (especially young people and women from the peripheries) more opportunities for entrepreneurship; (ii) to boost the sustainable production of food and fight against hunger; and, (iii) to favour the fullest human development with a special look at children’s health and education.
ANCESTORS OF THE FUTURE FUND
The original peoples of Brazil have achieved great protagonism, both in the recognition of the importance of their presence for the preservation of forests and rivers, and in the potential for building a bio economy. The Brazilian indigenous people are occupying the territories of politics and universities, are active and creative in social networks, and want to tell their own stories, with their own voice and worldview.
In this sense, the creation of the philanthropic fund Ancestors of the Future – with public calls for indigenous production in cinema, music, games and web3 – aims to contribute so that they also occupy the “screen territory”, the territory of the entertainment platforms. We believe that through greater contact with the beauty and worldview of indigenous cultural expression, non-indigenous society will deepen its alliance with the agenda of social and environmental causes that challenge the sustainability of the global future.
